one day on vacation

in between workshops

i had two hours to myself.

i sat out by the pool.

it was the afternoon and there

wasn't much sun left hitting the roof

so i grabbed a chair in the middle of the sun.

i fell asleep.

when i woke up a whole family;

mother, father, sister, brother,

were napping around me.

when i turned to my left

the little girl had woken up.

we stared at each other indefinitely.

we didn't speak.

we knew it was nap time.
