my new favorite thing is painting rooms. i painted my kitchen [brick red]and dining room [a grahamn cracker color]this weekend and then my best friend erin's living room [sand brown]and bedroom [pale yellow] later in the day. it makes me feel alive to transform a room from dull to beautiful.

erin, whom i've known my entire life (we were in utero simultaneously as our mom's drank coffee together), and i got married in the same year. then this past week we both closed on our houses. we were talking over paint and pizza about things we want to do to our houses and how THRILLED we are to be painting/decorating. i said to her then "did you ever think that, at 25, paint colors and discounts on step stools would be what got us excited?" to which she replied "i think if the 12 year old versions of us, girls who smoked cigarettes with 16 year old boys they met at the mall, saw us now they would be sickened".
