i'm moving into my new house on monday. it's been a long, arduous process but i'm very excited about moving. for one i hate my apartment and sometimes i think its why i hate life. secondly, i have been reading up on how-to-decorate-for-dummies and buying things for the past few months to put in my new house. it's interesting that i gravitate toward a mixture of masculine/country housing decor when i am so feminine/urban in the way i dress. i just came home from buying a vintage brushed yellow cabinet and a miniature chair. i really know nothing about how to make a house look nice but what i've learned is that you should buy things you love and then figure out what to do with them. just the other day i bought a heavy black statue of a man and woman (without faces) who were melded together and had only 3 legs between them. the image reminded me of "two becoming one" and bought it. but how does that match up with the navy blue pillow i bought that is shaped like a cat?

anyway i'm excited to paint. painting makes things feel like brand new. i've never lived anywhere where i was allowed to paint so i fear i may go overboard. but i will paint my kitchen a cranberry color and my bedroom a gold and i will decide about everything else from there. also i'm looking into sewing myself some curtains.

today is the kind of day that all tomorrows are built on.
