i'll let you be the judge

i'll tell you a story:

my first cousin, evelyn, is a preacher and she's substantially older than me (by about 25 years). i saw her, after 10 years of not seeing her, at our other cousins' wake and i asked her how her kids were. she told me about pne child's divorce, how the other was in jail, and how the last was on his third wife (cross your fingers this time). i was impressed by how forthcoming she was but then dismissed it, thinking she was being so honest being we were family. later in the evening she gave a sermon/eulogy/speech to a crowd of nearly 200 and somehow mentioned the same matters about her children.

which brings me to this:

when someone is outwardly comfortable revealing ugly details of their and their families personal life are they screaming for attention or are they just doing what everyone else is afraid to do? is it something that we can universally define or is it more individualistic? does becoming a person unafraid of judgement for what you have done or felt set you free?

please leave any thoughts in my notes section
