grandiosity

i was reading this article in a magazine about all these different women who were complaining because someone copied their haircut once or stole their idea on how to decorate their living room. the women in the article were really outraged and you could tell this was something that had never happened to them before.

people copy me constantly. from my hair to my clothes to the way i talk. i'm completely used to it. i've had to become a fashion/hair/style chameleon as a defense against the mimickers. the only friends i have (and i don't have a lot) are people who are vividly unique and have no desire to copy anyone. i feel sorry for people who feel they need to copy other people. they must have really low self esteem.

(also thank you to my friends for being your amazing, unique selves. in the years i've known you i've never seen you bend who you are to be like anyone else. and you never should.)
