i told my mother that marriage was two people who shared their lives.
it had to do with longevity and connection,
not man/woman,
not sex.
her interpretation was societal and boring
and it got me so upset that i screamed
"you and everyone else in the world,
you're all the fucking same"
and slammed the door.
