you gotta wonder

what ever happened to...

...slap bracelets? i know they were banded from my elementary school but why did they simultaneously fall off the face of the earth?

...everyone having picture phones by the year 2000? when they invented those things, i can specifically remember conversing with a fellow 4th grader about how everyone would have one by y2k and that by then they would cost $40.

...people who cared about their appearance? if i see one more person in sweatpants, i'll dry heave.

...ricola throat syrup? that shit took me through my college yrs. it wasn't as poignant as cough syrup, and less obnoxious then cough drops. what gives?

...notebooks with hot pink paper? maybe i'm not looking hard enough, but i don't see 'em around. and this is not good.

...kids playing outdoors? at this point they may as well knock down all the "children at play" signs and put up "drive as fast as you like, the kids are inside playing video games" signs.

...going to the mall and dropping something off at the post office without a cellphone and not coming home to 12 message? are we in such desperate need to contact one another? or are we just that bored?

...movie theatres that charged $2? yeah they showed shitty movies but it was nice to know you had the option of paying less than the cost of a cd.

...the verbal boundaries we had with our parents? why, in adolescents, was i scolded for using the word "damn" and can now saw the word "cunt" with no repercussions?

...that show "herman's head"? just when they show got my thinking about the inner workings of my brain, they took it off the air. couldn't they send us a re-run from time to time?

...those colored clips that held your shoe laces together? those things never even got a chance to survive.

...pencils? except for scrantons, people treat them like the freaking plague. well, guess what suckers, i'm bringing them back.
